SPRING/SUMMER 2023 wear for spring/summer 2023. The market for bicycles is booming, feeding into a growing segment that melds mobility with fashion. In ad- dition to outfits suitable for cycling, country club and college themes, ac- tive beachwear looks and surfer styles of baggy bermudas and hawaii shirts attest to the fact that leisure, but also a vacation feeling, is fashion. Bright colors, summer pastels, seaside stripes, prints in fun-, pop-, tropical, tie-dye and sundowner motifs – all evidence an optimistic lust for life that has been in lockdown for too long. This look is readily evoked at the POS, so the TUB-team, with surfboard, beach bag, sun cap and sunglasses. Cross dressing continues to be high on the agenda. A windbreak- er worn with modern formal pants and rounded off with running sneakers, or checked preppy slacks worn with a campus hoodie and varsity jacket: these are exemplary looks of the season. The focus is on comfort in a relaxed, timeless attitude. Allrounders are in de- mand, combinable in many ways and worn around the clock. Wind- breakers and shirt jackets can re- place the sports jacket, a t-shirt or fine gauge knit can supplant the shirt. Knit vests and polo cuts should perform well. Cuts are re- laxed. Slacks gain a comfortable width with waist pleats, draw- string and elastic waists. Utility and workwear styles, baggy and cargo pants, outsize knits and, last but not least, the over-shirt are important fashion partners. Especially when cara- vaning in the great outdoors, but equally appropriate for the urban jungle. The color spectrum is broad, just as it is for women's wear. Warm sand and camel hues are discreet and light-hearted, combined with lots and lots of white. Pastels including baby blue, mint, apricot, pink and lilac play an important role in all segments. Coral, tanger- ine, sun, electric, aqua, capri, la- goon and country club green add color zing. Mother nature's forests and plants are the source for agave, khaki, golden olive and apple. Earth and spice tones such as tof- fee, nutmeg, chestnut, and mocha round out the range, which must always include black. Knits „How are knits and sweats – pil- lars of the past seasons – to be weighted and assessed in the coming order?“ TUB Unternehmensber- atung answers its own question in the women's wear season's forecast. Experts agree that both groups will decline but remain at a high level. Top to toe knit and sweat looks will „probably still be seen, ...but no longer as fashion focus“. Sweats continue to deliver a sporty message, shirts proclaim sustain- able texts. Outsized striped sweaters are combined, for exam- ple, with mini skirts. In general, block stripes and color blocking are important design elements. The small cotton sweater outs itself as a perfect partner; vests and grand- dad cardigans continue their success story. Knit dresses are still around. Worth mentioning: handcraft de- tails are booming. The rising star of the past men's wear season was the vest, ca- sually styled over a t-shirt. That will not change. There is no end in sight for polo-power. This group is renewed with retro surface struc- tures, vertical stripes and top-to- bottom buttoning. Especially „hip“: terrycloth open collar polos as wells as tennis polo shirts. Fine gauge knits come with fine details and discrete color blocking. Mar- itime as well as athletic stripes and college- and country club themes are big for knits, sweats and t- shirts. Also available: letters, numbers and wordings. Simple feel-good hoodies in pastels should not be forgotten in the order, to- gether with tie-dye and dip-dye de- signs.
